A note from the Croatian delegation to the EU Council, published on 6 July 2026, announces that the bilateral agreement between Croatia and Jordan exempting holders of diplomatic passports from visa requirements will enter into force on 9 July 2026. The agreement, signed on 10 September 2025, exempts only diplomatic passport holders from the visa requirement under Article 6 of Regulation (EU) 2018/1806, which lists third countries whose nationals need visas for EU external border crossings. The note is addressed to the Visa Working Party and the Mixed Committee (EU-Iceland/Norway and Switzerland/Liechtenstein).
From 9 July 2026, Croatian and Jordanian diplomatic passport holders will no longer need visas for travel between the two countries. This bilateral exemption does not affect the general visa requirement for other passport holders. The measure is a routine implementation of a bilateral agreement and does not alter the EU's common visa policy for Jordan, which remains subject to the visa requirement for ordinary passport holders.
