A corrigendum published by the Council of the European Union on 3 July 2026 corrects five linguistic errors in the Spanish and Czech language versions of Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on packaging and packaging waste. The corrections affect recitals 130 and 131, Article 3(1) points 66 and 10, Article 47(1), and Article 12(9) of the regulation, which was adopted on 19 December 2024.

The corrigendum, designated REV 1, addresses four errors in the Spanish version and one in the Czech version. In the Spanish text, the term "organizaciones competentes en materia de responsabilidad del producto" (product liability) is replaced with "organizaciones competentes en materia de responsabilidad del productor" (producer responsibility) in recitals 130 and 131. Similarly, in Article 3(1) point 66, the definition "sistema de responsabilidad ampliada del productor" is corrected to "organización competente en materia de responsabilidad del productor", and in Article 47(1), "organización de responsabilidad ampliada del productor" is replaced with the same corrected phrase.

In the Czech version, Article 3(1) point 10 corrects a typographical error from "první d dodání" to "první dodání" (first delivery). A more substantive change occurs in Article 12(9), where the phrase "Do 12. února 2027 musí být možné" (By 12 February 2027, it must be possible) is replaced with "Od 12. února 2027 je možné" (From 12 February 2027, it is possible), and "postačí" (is sufficient) is replaced with "dosáhne pouze prostřednictvím" (is achieved only through). This alters the timeline and condition for packaging identification requirements.

The corrigendum concerns only the Czech language version for the REV 1 procedure; Member States have eight days to submit observations to the Council's legal service. The corrections ensure legal clarity and consistency across language versions of the regulation, which entered into force earlier in 2025 and sets new rules for packaging reduction, reuse, and recycling across the EU.
