- “And we have examined the answers provided by Temu. And there are regular meetings with Temu. And we hope to get a strong commitment from that platform. The problem that we face is that we are using instruments currently available, but which unfortunately don't allow us to do any more. So that's why the commission on the 19th of November made a proposal, and it is part of the 2030 consumer agenda. And the proposal is to revise the CPC regulation so that we can do more. And so that we can take stronger action and have stronger measures that we can apply when there are investigations and allow us to go beyond a threshold and to address the cross-border aspect. And so this would allow the Commission to intervene and to take much stronger measures to issue fines and to look at how we can block access to those platforms. Because what's happening today under the regulation that we currently have is that despite all of my colleague's efforts, is that we cannot apply fines unless they are at national level and there is no deadline either, that we can apply. There's no strict timing that we can apply to those platforms. And in addition, we also have the new regulation.”

- “Yes. Thank you very much, Mrs. Chair. Diana. Honourable members, I will speak in French if. Okay. So To add to what my colleagues have said when it comes to consumer policy, we also think that it's very important to implement strong policies when it comes to consumers rights, and we are working with national authorities to coordinate action against Sheen as part of what the CPC is, consumer protection coordination, and we've been working on that since May. And as part of that action, we are coordinating with the CRF and the other countries. So all 27 countries we have been discussing with Sheen, and we are stressing that the company needs to make firm commitments to Clearly comply with all of our consumer policy and what we have seen until now. And this is why we are prosecuting Jean. Since May, we have seen that there have been violations concerning illegal practices and fake productions and pressure being put on consumers through various techniques. So people have to. Play around with the system. There's not enough information. It's missing. It's misleading. There are false reviews as well, fake reviews. And that really is an important part of our framework when it comes to information for consumers and consumers rights. And we have launched action against Teemu you as well. And there was a joint action that started a year ago. So we are coordinating that action with national authorities as part of the CPC.”

- “The General Product Safety Regulation, which looks at product safety in particular, and this has been applicable since last December. And in that context, I visited China with Commissioner McGrath, and we had a very strong dialogue with the Chinese authorities. And the commissioner said that there is zero tolerance when it comes to product quality for products arriving in Europe. We want products that comply with our rules. They must not be dangerous and they should not violate our. Industrial protection and IP rights. And so within that framework we are using the instruments we currently have, and our colleagues in Thaxted are organising actions using those measures, and they are trying to provide support for those authorities. And we have a significant budget available now to bring the compliance authorities, together with the customs authorities, so that we can launch the Casp, the coordinated action with the customs authorities, and they will have more resources available to check compliance of dangerous products. And there will also be sweep actions like the one we had in July. So we can confirm, Madam Chair, that we are fully committed to combating this problem. And we would also like support for all of the reforms that we hope to introduce so that we can be more effective in this fight.”
