“Thank you very much, chair, and thank you to all who intervened. Uh, from the commission perspective, it is important to approve the possible quickly the proposal, because we think that the target of 90% is essential for the competitiveness and the resilience of the European economy and the society. We do have an impact assessment. The impact assessment has quite a lot of scientific studies behind it to show it. At the same time, we fully take into account the fact there is not enough to put a number in the official journal for things to happen. The Commission is committed to keeping a strong European economy with a strong industrial base, with strong SMEs, and that is why we accompanied the target with a clean industrial deal. And also the proposal was accompanied on the same day by a communication on how we are speeding up the deployment and the development of the clean industrial deal precisely to accompany our industry in this transition. We thought we were not ideological in our target. In fact, the Commission made an effort to pursue this target in a pragmatic and flexible way, adding new ideas on how we can reach the target, uh, in maybe a smarter or more flexible solution. And that was the intention against the limited amount of high quality international credits. Flexibility is between the tools making a little bit more space in the emission trading system with permanent removals. We are here to work with all the parties and all members of this committees and of this House, to try to work towards a version of the law that that can be supported. Thank you very much.”
