The European Union has condemned Russia's continued escalation in its war against Ukraine, citing an unprecedented rise in civilian casualties and new attacks on EU member states' territory, in a statement delivered at the OSCE Forum for Security Co-operation on 29 July 2026. The EU reiterated its support for a comprehensive, just and lasting peace based on the UN Charter, and called on Russia to agree to a full, unconditional and immediate ceasefire and to withdraw all forces from Ukraine's internationally recognised territory. The statement also voiced full solidarity with Romania, whose airspace was breached four times in four days by drone incursions, and with Latvia, after an attack on its Honorary Consulate in Sloviansk, which the EU called a further sign of Russia's disregard for international law.
