The Council of the European Union has issued a corrigendum to the Swedish language version of Directive 2009/138/EC (Solvency II), correcting an obvious error in Article 301b.3, second paragraph. The correction replaces the erroneous reference to "Regulation (EU) No 1094/210" with the correct "Regulation (EU) No 1094/2010", which establishes the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA). The corrigendum, dated 9 July 2026, was adopted under Procedure 2(b) for obvious errors in language versions, as per Council document R/2521/75.
The error was limited to the Swedish text and did not affect other language versions. Member States have eight days from 9 July 2026 to submit observations to the Council's Directorate for Quality of Legislation. The corrigendum has also been transmitted to the European Parliament for information.
This is a minor technical correction with no impact on the substance of Solvency II, which sets out prudential requirements for insurers and reinsurers in the EU. The corrected provision, Article 301b, concerns the application of group solvency requirements. The fix ensures legal clarity for Swedish-language users of the directive.
