Students from the University of Banja Luka and the University of Tuzla have won the European Union's Generation Change competition, earning a study trip to Brussels. The winning team, composed of eight students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Tuzla and the Faculty of Economics in Banja Luka, was announced at a closing event on 6 June 2026 in Sarajevo, marking the completion of the programme's latest edition.

The Generation Change programme brought together more than 500 students from eight public universities across Bosnia and Herzegovina over the past year. Activities included discussions at universities in Bihać, Banja Luka, Sarajevo, Mostar, Zenica, East Sarajevo and Tuzla, involving the Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in BiH, Ambassador Luigi Soreca, and ambassadors of EU Member States. A subsequent GenChange BootCamp selected 32 students to compete by producing video campaigns.

In the final stage, four videos were produced that garnered over 4 million views on social media, portraying connections between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the EU. The winning video, described by student Amar Hasanović from Tuzla as using food as a "unique language that connects all of us," was selected for its message and reach.

Ambassador Luigi Soreca praised the programme, stating that the ideas, collaboration and friendships developed through Generation Change resulted in a creative campaign that inspired people across BiH to vote, share and support their favourite videos. He noted that the content reached audiences far beyond the programme itself, demonstrating that when young people are given a platform, they can spark conversations and inspire positive engagement on issues that matter for the European future of the country.

Student Anja Đukić from Banja Luka highlighted that working with students from other universities allowed them to bring together different experiences and perspectives, and that this diversity was their greatest strength.

The winning team will travel to Brussels to present their work and gain insights into the functioning of the European Union. The programme is organised by the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
