The Council of the European Union has published a corrigendum correcting an obvious error in the Irish-language version of Regulation (EU) 2021/1060, the Common Provisions Regulation governing EU structural and investment funds. The correction, transmitted to the European Parliament on 10 July 2026, amends recital 72 on page 170 of the Irish text to accurately reflect the intended meaning regarding the Commission's encouragement of Member States to generally apply the integrated information and monitoring system.
"...ba cheart don Choimisiún úsáid na huirlise sin a spreagadh mar chur chun feidhme, ar bhonn ghinearálta, ag na Ballstáit." The corrected version now reads: "...ba cheart don Choimisiún úsáid na huirlise sin a spreagadh d’fhonn go gcuirfidh na Ballstáit i bhfeidhm í ar bhealach ginearálta." The change ensures that the Irish text aligns with the other language versions, clarifying that the Commission should encourage Member States to apply the tool in a general manner.
The corrigendum follows Procedure 2(b) for obvious errors in a single language version. Member States have eight days from publication to submit observations to the Directorate for Quality of Legislation of the Council's Legal Service. The correction does not alter the substance of the regulation, which was adopted on 24 June 2021 and lays down common provisions for the European Regional Development Fund, the European Social Fund Plus, the Cohesion Fund, the Just Transition Fund, the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund, and financial rules for several other funds.
The corrigendum has negligible practical impact on stakeholders, as it only corrects a linguistic error in the Irish version without changing legal obligations. Irish-speaking readers and legal professionals relying on the Irish text will benefit from improved accuracy. No other stakeholders are materially affected.
