The EU Council Working Party on Sport will meet on 10 July 2026 at 10:00 in the Justus Lipsius Building, Brussels, to advance work on traditional sports, hate speech in sport, mental health, and WADA matters, according to a notice of meeting and provisional agenda published on 3 July 2026.

The meeting, held in a 1+2 format, will open with the adoption of the agenda and information from the Presidency and the Commission. A joint session with the Cultural Affairs Committee is scheduled for item 4, where UNESCO will provide information on intangible cultural heritage and sport.

Under item 5, the Presidency will present its draft Council conclusions on traditional sports and games (TSGs) as a living expression of Europe's cultural heritage and a driver of inclusive participation (document 11305/26), followed by a first exchange of views. This initiative aims to preserve and promote TSGs across member states.

Item 6 features an update from the OMC Chair on the Open Method of Coordination Group on 'Fight against hate speech in sport', while item 7 involves examination of a revised text from the OMC Group on 'Promotion of the benefits of sport for mental health and wellbeing and prevention for athletes, coaches, officials and staff' (document 11500/26).

Item 8 will include an exchange of views on the WADA Executive Committee Meeting scheduled for 10-11 September 2026. The meeting will conclude with any other business.

The meeting is expected to produce no binding decisions but will shape future Council conclusions and OMC outputs. Stakeholders such as national sport authorities, athletes' associations, and cultural heritage organisations may be impacted by the policy orientations discussed, particularly on traditional sports and mental health measures.
