- 2026-06-17 “Thank you, chair. Honorable commissioner, I will speak in Hungarian. Social media is part of our everyday life, but the online space also poses real dangers to children to which Europe must provide a firm and immediate response. It is particularly concerning that the algorithms of certain platforms by keeping users attention for as long as possible contribute to the spread of harmful content and the development of addiction. Age restrictions alone are not enough. Reliable age verification and parental supervision is also necessary. Parents must be able to monitor their children's online activities. Creating a safe digital environment requires common European guidelines, while at the same time, we must preserve member states discretion in setting national digital age limits. Furthermore, digital skills must become as fundamental to public education as reading or writing. We must teach our children to be digitally aware, conscious, to think critically, and to recognize online dangers.”

- “Thank you. Chair. Mr. Commissioner, I will continue in Hungarian. The Ten-t networks development is not only a technical issue, it is an economic, military and geopolitical issue as well. On Hungary's area, there are five ten-t corridors and two military mobility corridors. Therefore, we know the risks if the development of these projects are delayed. Projects like the Belgrade Budapest Rail Railway or the Siget Sobotka Subotica Railway can connect not only regions, but it means a lot for Hungarian ethnic Hungarians in Serbia. While Hungary is spending 3 billion foreign euros a year for infrastructure, lots of strategic investments, we cannot access neither credits nor other resources because they are not profitable, even if the projects are of military importance. This has to be changed. The 10th is objectives can only be attained if we have more flexible regulatory and financial frameworks. Thank you.”

- “Thank you for your question. Um, I am not unprepared. I expected your question. I have to, uh. These are unfounded allegations because Hungary has adopted the most comprehensive and strictest family protection and child protection systems. Uh, we have managed to curb pedophile, um, crime. And we have introduced the targeted social measures, which have clearly improved the situation of children. My question to you is the following. Uh, your party, what is your position on woke ideology, which is an equally big risk? Can you please reply?”
Support for families
- “Thank you. Chair. Madam Commissioner. I will speak in Hungarian. Because. While the European Union has been unable to finalise the proposal for an anti-discrimination directive since 2008, at the same time the European institutions are committing serious political discrimination. The European Commission has been excluding hundreds of thousands of university students, Hungarian students from the Erasmus programme. Why? Because they have a political ideological argument with the Hungarian government, and at the same time, they themselves admit that there has been no impact assessment whether this is justified. The right to equal treatment of hundreds of thousands of Hungarian youngsters is undermined, just based on mere theories. Preventatively and the same logic appears in the European Parliament with the practice of the cordon sanitaire, which is an unjust abuse of democratic tools. We say that anti-discrimination cannot coexist with demonization of people who have different political views, and the exclusion of those who have national, conservative, patriotic principles. The European institutions, including the EPP and the European Commission should step up against this discrimination and exclusion in a consistent manner.”

- “Honorable commissioner, initially I had two questions, but I was very glad that the first question that I intended to ask was already answered by you after the first round of coordinator's questions and it is regarding the non-EU member countries who are in the accession process. And I welcome what you have told us, that there will be welcome to take part and continue taking part in programmes such as Creative Europe, because some of the countries already had some immense experience with that programme. So thank you very much for that. Uh, my question, however, is, uh, regarding, uh, traditional, uh, language and national minorities, uh, you have been taking part in one of the meetings of the Intergroup on Traditional and Language Minorities and, uh, we, uh, we We saw your commitment as commissioner to, uh, to keep in mind that there are such things as, uh, linguistic and traditional, uh, national minorities in Europe. And my question is regarding, uh, them within the Agora EU project, uh program. Uh, since all three strands are very narrowly, very narrowly connected to traditional minorities when it comes to culture, the cultural heritage and also the, uh, the creative, uh, EU programs can be a very valuable way of, uh, of, uh, guarding and keeping traditional languages and national traditions as well. And when it comes to, to media, uh, a very important question is geo blocking and how the commission intends to provide, uh, Diversity. Language diversity in digital programs as well, because it would be an end. Yes. Thank you very much. And the third strand is also very important. So my question would be how the Commission is intending to keep in mind. Thank you.”

- “Thank you. I will speak in Hungarian. Madam Vice President we are talking about cyberbullying. So let me talk about the complex solution that we have in Hungary. The digital welfare program under the government has put forward a new strategy to protect children, to make the online world child friendly. We have a flag up system. Where harmful content can be removed immediately. We introduced this in 2022 a new act on online aggression. And for families we have free online services. Of course, we also work on awareness raising at schools. Responsible online presence is what we are trying to prepare young people for. If the EU wants to give a really good answer to this problem, we don't need general censorship, but we should build on already well functioning member state examples.”

- “Thank you. Chair. Mr. Commissioner, I will speak in Hungarian. Last year's Hungarian presidency resulted in putting on our agenda again the regulation on air passenger rights. It hasn't been spoken of for five years before that. We Hungarians believe that this 20 year old, outdated regulation should be replaced by a new modernized version. We are convinced that we should not reduce the current level of protection of procedures. On the contrary, we need a regulation which is easy to interpret and which provides real protection under current circumstances in air travel. It is unfortunate that the Polish presidency did not continue the work as determinedly as the Hungarians started it. This is why it's important for the Commission to create a very detailed study, which examines the results of the planned changes from the point of view of passengers, as well as from the point of view of the industry. Hungary is committed to protect the passenger rights on in theory as well as in practice.”

- “Thank you. Chair. Commissioner, I will speak in Hungarian. If we want to have. Sustainable public transport. We need to support environmentally friendly forms of transport. Public transport use in Hungary is higher than the EU average. Hungary has affordable, environmentally friendly public transport And the Hungarian government is improving public transport links. The Hungarian minorities in neighboring countries are also being helped, for example by improvements to the Budapest Belgrade rail link. Hungary is committed to sustainable mobility. And that is reflected in the new system introduced in the capital, Budapest, and this is good news for the environment.”

- “Apologies in Hungarian. Thank you. It is absolutely essential that we have research to enhance competitiveness. The Commission's objectives need to be supported in order to tackle the brain drain that we are witnessing. This is an initiative in Europe, of course, but it has to be seen in the wider context. What is happening here is a clear attempt to bring in more American researchers and close the door to European researchers who will have no access to European research funding not for administrative reasons, but for political reasons. There will be sanctions imposed on Hungarian researchers, for sure, and possibly others. It is all very well to talk about the brain drain from America, but we need to support our own researchers we cannot simply be having in here all the researchers from other countries who wish to move here. We have got plenty excellent Hungarian researchers who should be given research funding.”

- “Thank you. Chair. As the committee, we bear a decisive responsibility to safeguard the integrity of the discharge procedure and to ensure that it remains faithful to its constitutional mandate. The discharge is not, or at least should not, be, a political debate or an ideological exercise. It is, or at least it should be, a rule based accountability mechanism through which Parliament assesses whether the Commission has implemented the EU budget legally, regularly and in line with the principles of sound financial management measured against this standard. The current draft report represents a serious departure from the purpose of the discharge. It is saturated with political framing and normative judgments that are not supported by concrete budgetary findings. While key issues such as transparency and accountability in the use of EU funds through NGOs and other intermediaries are downplayed or omitted. Equally troubling is the political targeting of specific member states and individual office holders without a clear budgetary basis. This introduces bias, where objectivity is required and undermines the credibility of the procedure. For these reasons, the report must be fundamentally refocused on its core task, enabling Parliament to take a serious, credible and defensible decision on whether to grant or postpone discharge. Thank you.”
Discharge of EU institutions and agencies
- “Thank you. Thank you so much for that question. Well, I expected someone from this party to put this question to me. But let me ask you, why is your party in favor and happy with the fact that the funds which Hungary is, uh, received is being, uh, stopped by the European Union and therefore your party will get better results in the 2026 elections. This is a very egoistic approach. It's unacceptable to see that you're satisfied by the fact that Hungary is not going well. And it will be good for you. Thank you.”

- “Thank you. Chair. Madam Commissioner, I will speak in Hungarian. When we talk about online risks, we often mention cyberbullying, addictive games and excessive screen time and seem to forget about equally harmful risks such as early exposure to sexual content to radical Or religious or gender ideology, which they are simply not able to process due to their age. Big tech platforms seem incapable of managing the these risks on their own. So it's right that we talk about this here in this House. Hungary's position on the role of parents is clear. They have a primary and irreplaceable role in taking decisions on children's development offline and online. We. Are legislating on this is primarily a member state or national competence. Hungary is committed to protecting children. We adopted a strategy on this digital strategy on curbing online aggression. So we support every European initiative which seeks to reinforce national systems, acknowledge the parents role rule and better protect our children online. Thank you.”

- “Thank you chair. I will continue in Hungarian as the European Parliament. Thank you so much. The major left coalition in this Parliament wants to approve a budget that. Will lead to a disastrous immigration policy. And the civil organizations will be funded once again and also the finance of the Ukrainian war. Sometimes people are happy because of the conditionality of Brussels, and keeps a certain resources in its pocket and doesn't pay them to Hungary, because this is the way in which you want to support the opposition parties. That is not acceptable. The Patriots for Europe and Fidesz. My party would like to approve a budget, a budget which really helps member states to protect our external borders and also to put a stop to illegal immigration. We want to promote regional policies and the cap should be kept, especially in terms of direct payments. Thank you.”
Asylum & border control
- “Thank you. Chair. Commissioner, I will speak in Hungarian. Children are being exposed to greater, greater dangers. 92% of the European population support this opinion, and in Hungary we're very clear children must not become victims. Neither online or offline. They should not be left up, left to being guinea pigs in experimental situations. And that's why we need to have a unified definition and stricter measures put in place. But we need to make sure that we take into consideration the fact that individual member states might have different priorities and different constitutions. At the same time, we reject the fact that Brussels is using the pretext of liberalisation and liberalism to allow LGBTI content to be disseminated in schools. In Hungary. We have very clear rules. We support. We just don't support LGBTQ ideology and propaganda.”

- “Allow me, I'd like to continue in Hungarian, because it's quite shocking for me that the Tea Party is still attacking the Hungarian government's policy to reduce utility bills. This was a contribution from the Hungarian government to help promote prosperity among families, and it's recognized across Europe. We reject the conclusions of my colleague, who is Hungarian, that the reduction of utility bills is unsuccessful because it has been shown as a successful measure and even as good practice in Europe. So finally, I would like to ask two questions. One of them regarding the chemical industry and the chemical industry. The most anticipated legislative change in the previous legislative term would have been the revision of the reach regulation, which did not come out. What does the Hungarian presidency plan to do to ensure that the chemical sector retains the political attention it has received? And my other question is, which are the most important objectives and instruments of the Hungarian presidency in the end of the light vehicle proposal? As I said, I wish you a successful semester in the presidency. Thank you very much.”
