The European Union and Kosovo held the 7th meeting of the Stabilisation and Association Committee on 30 June 2026 in Pristina, co-chaired by Arben Krasniqi, General Secretary at the Office of Prime Minister, and Jiri Plecity, Head of DG ENEST Unit responsible for Kosovo. The meeting reviewed key political developments and took stock of progress on political and economic criteria, alignment with the EU acquis, and implementation of obligations under the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA).

The EU welcomed progress in areas related to competitiveness and inclusive growth, particularly social policy, employment, digital transformation, taxation, economic and monetary policy, education, culture, and customs. While acknowledging recent progress in democracy and rule of law, the EU stressed the need to accelerate pending reforms in public administration, freedom of expression, the rule of law, protection of fundamental rights, and rights of persons belonging to non-majority communities. The EU also underlined the importance of fully functioning institutions for accelerating the reform process and noted that Kosovo's European future requires enhanced cross-party cooperation, meaningful consultation with civil society, and engagement with local authorities.

Kosovo's Chief Negotiator with the EU, Jeton Zulfaj, and Valentina Superti, Director for the Western Balkans in the European Commission's Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood (DG ENEST), opened the meeting. The Government of Kosovo highlighted progress made and reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the reform agenda, implementing SAA obligations, and making full use of the EU Growth Plan for the Western Balkans to accelerate socio-economic development. Both parties agreed to continued engagement for the benefit of Kosovo's reform process and its European aspirations. The EU confirmed its commitment as Kosovo's largest financial assistance provider, having invested more than €3.7 billion since 1999.
