The European Union and Kosovo held the 7th meeting of the Stabilisation and Association Committee on 30 June 2026 in Pristina, co-chaired by Arben Krasniqi, General Secretary at the Office of Prime Minister, and Jiri Plecity, Head of DG ENEST Unit responsible for Kosovo. The meeting reviewed political developments, progress on political and economic criteria, alignment with the EU acquis, and implementation of obligations under the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA).
The EU welcomed progress in competitiveness and inclusive growth, particularly in social policy, employment, digital transformation, taxation, economic and monetary policy, education, culture, and customs. However, it stressed the need to accelerate reforms in public administration, freedom of expression, rule of law, protection of fundamental rights, and rights of non-majority communities. The EU underlined the importance of fully functioning institutions and enhanced cross-party cooperation, civil society consultation, and local authority engagement for Kosovo's European path.
Kosovo's Chief Negotiator with the EU, Jeton Zulfaj, and Valentina Superti, Director for the Western Balkans in the European Commission's Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood (DG ENEST), opened the meeting. The Government of Kosovo reaffirmed its commitment to advancing reforms and implementing SAA obligations, and to using the EU Growth Plan for the Western Balkans to accelerate socio-economic development.
Both parties agreed to continued engagement. The EU confirmed its commitment to supporting Kosovo's European path, noting it has invested over €3.7 billion in Kosovo since 1999.
