Parliament approved the mobilisation of the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund for technical assistance under the Commission's initiative for 2026 by 532 votes to 64 , with 62 abstentions. The EPP, S&D, Renew, the Greens/EFA, The Left and most of the ECR backed the release of funds; the ESN voted against, and most of the PfE abstained. This is a budgetary decision authorising the drawdown of EGF resources to cover the Commission's technical assistance activities — the support, monitoring and administrative work tied to running the fund — rather than aid to a specific group of workers. The broad cross-group majority reflects the routine, administrative character of the file. Opposition and abstention were concentrated on the right: the ESN voted against as a group, while the PfE largely abstained ( 8 for, 11 against, 56 abstentions) and the NI split evenly. The ECR, by contrast, mostly joined the majority in favour.
